On March 13, 2021, CAVIWO gathered in Orleans for one of our signature spirit-filled in-person meetings. A reminder that some encounters can not happen on a screen, and that community is built one table at a time.
There is a kind of conversation that cannot happen on a screen. It is the kind that requires a room, the warmth of shared space, and the quiet courage of women choosing to show up for one another. On March 13, 2021, Canada Virtuous Women (CAVIWO) gathered in Orleans for one of those encounters, a spirit-filled afternoon designed not around a program but around presence.
When CAVIWO gathers in a room, it is for those conversations and encounters that cannot take place virtually. Our gatherings are usually spirit filled and powerful. They are the moments when the work of empowerment stops being a mission statement and becomes something you can feel, something carried in the laughter, the prayers, and the honesty of women who share a table and a journey.
There is always something to eat when we meet, because it is a cultural thing. Food is not a detail at a CAVIWO gathering. It is the language of welcome. For the communities we serve, breaking bread together is an act of belonging, a way of saying that you are seen and that you have a place. The table is set before the agenda is, because the belonging comes before the business.
This event took place in Orleans on March 13, 2021, and it was just one of those gatherings to appreciate and encourage one another. There was no keynote to impress, no panel to perform for. There were women who had carried heavy seasons arriving to be reminded that they were not carrying alone. There was gratitude spoken plainly, encouragement given freely, and the kind of encouragement that does not arrive in a broadcast but in a hand on a shoulder.

Gatherings like these are the quiet backbone of everything CAVIWO does. The workshops, the coaching, the programs that produce measurable outcomes, all of it rests on the trust that is built in rooms like this one. A woman who has been appreciated in a gathering is a woman who will later ask for the help she needs. A woman who has been encouraged is a woman who will later encourage another. The ripple starts here, at a table, with a meal and a moment of honest recognition.
We have learned that empowerment is not only delivered through curriculum. It is delivered through encounter. The women who leave our gatherings refreshed are the same women who return to their homes, their workplaces, and their communities a little steadier than they arrived. That steadiness is the soil in which everything else we build is planted, and it is the reason we will never stop making room for the rooms that hold it.
CAVIWO will keep gathering, in Orleans and beyond, because some things can only be built face to face. We will keep setting the table, because the table is where the sisterhood begins. And we will keep showing up for one another, because encouragement, freely given, is the most renewable resource a community will ever have.
