Is Your Image in the Mirror Real? – Canada Virtuous Women

Thursday, March 4, 2021
Exhortation: Sis. Bertha Nkabyo
Topic: Is your image in the mirror real?

Tuesday’s recap

  • When we fall in love, we get so excited, and want to share it with everyone!
  • Thats what happened with the Samaritan woman at the well; she’d encountered real love, and wanted to even share it with those who despised her.

Are you that person, who like the Samaritan woman, will run to tell everyone about your encounter with Jesus?

Tonight’s Message

2 Corinthians 13:5
Paul asking the Corinthians to examine themselves means something might have been wrong.

They were living in a time similar to ours; what was good was pushed to the back, and what was evil to the front.

  • Examining something = looking at something so we can make some adjustments.
  • Ask yourself: are you following Christ as you used to?
Is the love still as strong as when you first met Him?
  • Are you still staying the course?
  • We are a work-in-progress, so instead of staying or feeling stagnant/complacent, we ought to work at improving daily.
  • Like any project, our walk is one that needs a regular check-up and analysis.

So

Who Are You?

When you look in the mirror, who do you see?

  • No one but you can answer this question.
  • Sometimes, we want to identify with everyone else, and end up having multiple identities.
  • We need to come to God constantly to expose those things we need to work on.
  • Sometimes, we Christians compromise a lot. While other groups out there proudly publicise their beliefs, we hide ours.

Psalms 139:23-24
Lamentations 3:40

  • In this walk, we can’t ignore our flaws; if they’re not in the hands of God, they’ll be in the enemy’s hands(he likes to convince us that it’s just a little thing, so it’s no big deal)

James 1:23-25

  • Its not about grabbing the full picture in one look, but catching just a glimpse of our reflections to begin with.
  • To solve a problem, you must first know what it is.
  • We have to develop our fighting spirit through prayer to finally rise from who we used to be, to who we are meant to be.
  • Our real image is borne when we thirst and hunger for God; the one that shows us as beautiful.
  • Some sins won’t easily go except by intentionally addressing it, so we have to fight for our salvation.

The truth is we all will leave this earth one day, so the question is: when you do, will you see Jesus?

To do so, it’s important that we know and find who we truly are(in Christ)

Prayer
Lord, help us to look deep within, and examine ourselves, so that we can present ourselves, blameless before you.

Amen
